I’m a recipe developer, writer and food blogger living in Los Angeles, California. I live with my mischievous corgi puppy, Amelia, and boyfriend Joshua. When I’m not making human food, I usually can be found making Amelia birthday cakes or homemade dog treats—it may be a favorite past time.

If this is your first time here, you can expect a lot of breakfast food. Pancakes are dreamy. And pie! Sooo much pie. My mother is Peruvian, so from time to time you’ll find me making some recipes that she’s passed down to me. (If you’re sick, this soup will save you! And these cookies are my favorite.) The food I tend to cook and bake is never fancy—it’s usually just grown-up versions of stuff I ate as a kid. Think comfort food…gone cute.

In Spring of 2013 my first cookbook (!!!!) was published by St. Martin’s Press/MacMillan titled, PANCAKES: 72 Tasty Recipes for the Perfect Stack. Hello Adrianna, I found your blog via Vintage Kitchen Notes, and am so glad I did! I was reading your Green Spaghetti post, and could just SEE my mom, in place of yours! She, too, was not to be messed with…and she, too, became my best friend. I think the first words I remember her saying was, “Learn to cultivate a taste for…” whatever it was I didn’t want to eat at the time! But, I DID learn to like…LOVE all kinds of food, and became the foodie I am today because of her! I learned so much from her…I miss her so much. Thank you for that little snippet of “mind-rewind” I had while enjoying your story!

Just wanted to make a comment about your picture. I don’t like it. I’m not saying this to say that I don’t like you. Of course, I don’t know you. I just don’t like the picture of you. Your glance sideways is really awkward and hides you. I think if you are going to post a picture of yourself on your website, it should be face forward. So people can see you. Not cheeky you. Anyway, i’m going to try that mayonnaise cake recipe if I ever reach my goal weight and I can afford to splurge a bit.

Hi,
Love the blog & recipes but please do not sell my personal info or email address to a 3rd party. Junk emails are worse than the snail mail ones…other than saving trees but just as annoying. The request may be to late because I signed up for your blog. Not saying you do sell the info (I don’t know) but a definate after thought. Thanks.

It’s a great place to stay because it’s super central. Here’s a short list of recommendations:

Bakeries/Breakfast/Good Coffee – Short Cake, Proof, Huckleberry, Hart + Hunter (not a bakery, per se but they have awesome baked goods), Sqirl.

Dinner – Mozza Pizzeria (pizza), Angelini Osteria (Northern Italian), Bestia (Southern Italian, expensive but worth it – make a res far in advance),

Taco trucks – Taco Zone (truck in Echo Park), Tacos Arizas (truck in Echo Park), Rico’s Mar Azul Mariscos Truck (in Highland Park – by far my favorite), Kogi BBQ (a staple), Guisados (restaurant for tacos in Echo park).

Let me know where you end up going. Have an awesome trip. I love this city!

where do you think we should spend our time shopping at? downtown, pasadena ? where do you usually shop?

we have done all the touristy la stuff the last time so looking for somewhere else to walk and hang out. :)

I’m in the process of starting my own food blog (and hopefully will be just as successful as you one day :), and was just curious …. did you go to culinary school?? I’m not a professional, but I just love food and love to eat and try recipes I find online, cookbooks, etc. I was just wondering perhaps the secret to your awesome recipes is the result of an awesome culinary education ??
