I work and live in Los Angeles, California which is where all of my cooking, baking and life going-ons take place. There’s nothing fancy about the stuff I like to cook and bake–it’s usually just grown-up versions of stuff I ate as a kid. And you’ll for sure find a lot of breakfast on here. That’s totally my favorite meal of the day. I started this blog back in 2009 with Caroline–she’s since departed and started her own blog. I’m currently writing my first cookbook which will be published in Spring of 2013 by St. Martin’s Press/MacMillan.

I love your website. Thank you for such beautifully appealing layouts and delicious, easy-to-follow recipes. Your roasted brussel sprout leaves idea is genius! I made them for New Year’s Day Dinner and threw them in a bowl with wild rice, roasted black eye peas (never cooked them that way before, but yum!), sautéed mushrooms and sprinkles crispy bacon over the top and it was a huge hit! I can’t imagine why I’d never eaten B-Sprouts this way before?!?! Happy New Year to you!

Have to say that I just stumbled upon your site because I was searching for a chickpea harissa recipe and I love your blog. Great recipes with lots of pictures and fun anecdotes.
We also live in LA and just rescued a pup we found on PetFinder two weeks ago. He’s a joy (if a bit of a handful.) Rescue’s definitely the way to go. And there’s always a way to work with your landlord (addl deposit, pet rent,) if you’re reluctant to move.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks.

I just wanted to say how much I loved not only the food, but the comic relief when reading your recipes on the website. It’s so refreshing to know theres someone else out there that has the same passion towards great foods, taste and respect for ingriedients….it’s also nice to read your little stories which make the recipes, in my humble opinion, a bit more fun. I LOVE the caprese salad..make it all the time, especially when i want to make people think I know what I am doing..lol Thank you, and I havn’t tried one of your recipes yet that hasn’t knocked mine or my kids (including the kid I call husband) socks off.!
