Back to the Roots – Mushroom Kit Giveaway!

in Giveaway

Happy Valentine’s Day Week! Happy Lunar New Year! Happy happy week…

Today I’m giving away something I’ve loved for a long, long time: a mushroom kit from Back to the Roots. That’s right, my fwiendz, today I’m giving you mushrooms. Oyster mushrooms, actually.

This kit is kind of amazing. All you do is water the goods (inside the box) and in about 10 days you have 1 1/2 pounds of fresh, beautiful oyster mushrooms. SO COOL!

If I had 1 1/2 pounds of oysters, I’d make this pasta dish with brown butter and fried sage, or this white mushroom lasagna…or maybe this mushroom risotto.

To enter, simply leave a comment below answering the following question:

1. What’s your favorite 90’s movie? Here are a few of my favorites: Walking and Talking, Reality Bites, Before Sunrise/Before Sunset, Dazed and Confused, Beauty and the Beast…you get the idea! Annnnd go…

Giveaway ends Tuesday (2/13) at midnight. I’ll choose a winner and post the person’s name, along with their favorite 90’s movie. Good luck!

xo

Adrianna

{Fine print: Back to the Roots provided one mushroom kit for me to give away to one of you lovely people. No compensation was exchanged. That’s all!}

——————————————————————————————————————————

Update!: Loryn is our winner. Her favorite 90s movies: “Pump up the Volume! and Heathers! and Singles” I mean…very, very good choices. Singles is one of my all-time favorites, too. Thanks for playing, everyone!

This is an awesome giveaway and I just bought a huge tub of mushrooms two day ago…and they’re gone. Love them!

Pulp Fiction!

I actually received one of these mushroom kits for Christmas (such a cool gift idea!) and the only thing that happened was tiny bugs crawling out of the box after about two weeks or so. No mushrooms at all! And I followed the directions exactly. I want to try again though. Any tips for next time?

Reply

erin @WELLinLA February 11, 2013 at 10:19 am

Whoa…! My fave 90’s is also Pulp Fiction… and I’ve also tried the kit with no luck the first time (maybe it’s my horrible green thumb?!?). Would love the chance to try-try-try again!

THE ENGLISH PATIENT ~~1996~ on of the most beautiful romantic movies ever made ~~I have such memories tied up within this movie as i bought the book for each of my girls ~( ~the oldest 26 and the youngest 21 ) for Christmas as a gift ~~ we had our own little Oprah book club going on ~~they were at this time both out on their own in the world ~~in other words all grown up ~~so we made dinner plans for New years eve and i also surprised them with movie tickets for us to to go see the Picture show at the Flicks here in town ~~I kept hearing racking sobs coming from my youngest girl ~~ totally inconsolable in parts of the movie and as we left the theater and having tried hard to console her she just dissolved in a heap in my arms and stated ~~OH!!MOM!!! no one will ever love me like that in my whole life ~~had to practically carry her back to the car ~~well she did come to know that kind of love and almost as eventful ~~we lost her at sea in ALASKA with her love by her side in 2002 ~~she was but 26 ~~she is to this very day loved every day just like that

“Interview with a Vampire”. Trust me it was not the movie that I loved as much as the date that took me in ’94! Now he’s my husband and we’ve got 3 little girls 9, 5, and 3. Funny thing is I had already seen it and read many Anne Rice novels but it just seemed like the right fit for our 1st date!

Tiff February 11, 2013 at 3:03 pm

There are SO many! I love “The Professional.” Anything with Jean Reno rocks my socks. Plus it was obvious that a young Natalie Portman was going to turn into something fabulous. Second is The Usual Suspects. Might have to have a ’90’s weekend of movie viewing this winter!

It’s a tie between “The Mighty Ducks” and “The Sandlot,” despite my zero interest in boys or sports at that age. Both are solid movies about friendship, overcoming obstacles and all around winning at childhood.

Terrence Malick’s Thin Red Line!
Everything about the way it’s filmed, the soundtrack and the characters is amazing and definitely makes the length worth it. :)
Also, mushrooms are good. I’ve only recently rediscovered them and they’re now part of the foods I can’t believe I spent my entire life without. Getting to cooking definitely makes you realise how good certain things can be…
