I can be a total brat sometimes. Like attitude city, population: ME. I’ve mentioned this before. So when I see recipes that have the name: “Jessica’s Best Blank” or “Best Blank You’ve Ever Eaten,” I get way bratty. I kinda think those recipes are super self-righteous.
Wait, you’re telling me it’s ridiculous that I think recipes CAN even be self-righteous?!? Listen, I said I was a brat, I never said I was logical!!
I digress…so when I stumbled upon this recipe, I was way skeptical. Bratty skeptical.
(You know what I’m about to say next, right?! Of course you do!)
I was incredibly surprised. Blown away, actually.

You’re not a brat,I agree completely! This recipe is almost identical to the one I’ve used for several years. It is from Bon Appetit, and who would’ve thought a simple buttermilk syrup put this cake over the top – but it is out of this world! Sometimes I substitute mascarpone cheese for the cream cheese in the frosting which is fabulous too!
Carrot cake is my favorite! Can’t wait to try this one!

Those kinds of recipes (The Best Ever, etc.) always make me think of that scene in Elf when he goes into that coffee shop and congratulates them on having the world’s best coffee. That scene cracks me up every time.
