Fried Oyster Sliders

I know this is a food blog and I’m not supposed to say things like this, but the first time I ate an oyster I compared it to a booger. I thought it was FOUL. Absolutely foul. And it had nothing to do with the quality, because I made sure the first time I tried one was at a nice restaurant in Seattle. I just couldn’t deal. It was a texture thing.

It took me a looong time to muster up enough courage to eat one again but I love them. Totally love. I usually opt to eat them raw with a little mignonette, hot sauce or a squeeze of lemon. If you’re a non-raw-oyster-eating type of person, I feel you. But I do think you might like them in their fried state. Everything is better fried.

These fried oyster sliders are delicious. And cute! The full recipe for the batter is over on Etsy today.

These are too. stinking. CUTE.

Love oysters – fried or raw (in spite of the indisputable booger-quality).

I love raw oysters, probs more than fried…gasp! I read once that the idea is to bite them once or twice just to release their sea-breeze flavor, then swallow them whole. It helped me with the whole weirdness factor.

these little sliders are the cutest!

I hope that I too can overcome my oyster fear. I know I’d like fried ones, but man-0-man, those raw ones make me scurred. I have hope though! Thanks to you!

And yeah, these sliders are KEWT.

No, I think not. I remember eating oyster stew with my grandmother, but I never cared for it much. Fried clams, however, are the very best of seafood sandwiches, with a good, homemade, not too tangy tartar sauce, and nice crunchy lettuce, piled high on one of my big, beautiful homemade buns. That’s the best thing I took out of New England after living there for a few years. Well, maybe lobster rolls, too. Little sliders wouldn’t go over well when my 4 big tall adult males get together. It’s got to be big, man, big! And add some homemade fat crunchy battered and fried onion rings to that, please. And some cucumbers, onions, and peppers marinated in a cider vinegar, sugar, and water recipe for 24 hours. Now you have it……!

These look fab! I am a raw-oyster with a squeeze of lemon and oyster crackers on the side kind of girl. (that was a mouth full). But I will try anything fried with mayo on a slider bun!

Okay yes, raw oysters ARE like boogers. I won’t eat them. But FRIED, oh that’s a completely different ballgame. Mmmmm!!!

I ADORE oysters in whatever state I find them… but I have often wondered aloud (to the consternation of friends & family) about that first poor, pathetic person who was so hungry that he decided it would be worthwhile to try eating something that looked like a loogie!
