Quarterly Co. Box Giveaway // www.acozykitchen.com

Giveaway time!

Quarterly Co. is a subscription box service that allows you to subscribe to a a variety of curators like Pharrell, Angie and Ted of Poketo…and even Coco (yes, Ice-T’s gf). Today is all about Chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo. They own two of my favorite restaurants in Los Angeles, Son of a Gun and Animal. In fact, when I first moved to LA and was super broke, my first splurge meal was at Animal. I have really good memories of that night; there was a biscuit topped with gravy and foie gras.
This quarter’s box is all about BBQ. The box that’s up for grabs includes:

1. Their recipe for the best BBQ sauce EVER (seriously, Josh has made it a few times and it’s amazing).
2. A bag of wood chips.
3. Two custom-made Hedley + Bennett tea towels.
4. A BBQ sauce brush.
5. Tin of their BBQ rub.
6. Signed note from them.

To win this giveaway:

1. Visit Quarterly and take a look at Vinny and Jon’s past boxes/sign up for their new Quarterly box, which is coming out in two months, if you like!!

2. Leave a comment here telling me what your favorite BBQ side dish, i.e., mac n cheese, baked beans…you know, stuff like that!

A winner will be chosen on Friday, April 4th at noon, PST. This giveaway is open to US readers only.

This giveaway is now closed. The winner is Ciana Simpson!!

Is it fair to say ALL OF THE SIDES!? I’m not trying to avoid picking just one but for me BBQ is a fill your plate to the brim, loosen the belt, type of endeavor. Mac ‘n’ cheese, baked beans, cornbread, coleslaw, greens! Greens! A mash potato situation isn’t out of the question either.

I also love potato salad but only one kind, which is the kind my family makes. The only place that makes potato salad anywhere close to what I grew up with is Canter’s and I make it a point to order it every time I’m there.

Gun to my head: mac ‘n’ cheese, no matter how incomplete that feels :-)

Adrianna Adarme April 1, 2014 at 9:55 pm

I would have to say potato salad (made from my grandmother’s recipe, of course).

Rae March 31, 2014 at 7:26 pm

Mac n cheese is a staple for BBQ, but if they are made correctly, Hush Puppies are hard to beat! When all else fails, I reach for a nice, crispy sour dill pickle

Kelly March 31, 2014 at 7:30 pm

BAKED BEANS. With plenty of brown sugar. YUMMMM.

Gina Guthrie March 31, 2014 at 7:51 pm

Abby April 1, 2014 at 8:46 am

My favorite BBQ place has the best French Fries! It’s totally random how delicious their fries are, and I love dipping them in BBQ sauce!

Corn from the grill!!! I love it when you BBQ it with the husks on.. always comes out moist and perfect!

Lizzie April 1, 2014 at 10:38 am

Coleslaw! It is a must to cut the hot/buttery/mushy deliciousness of pulled meat, Mac and cheese, etc… I LOVE it.

Lauren April 1, 2014 at 11:31 am

I start to drool just thinking about my aunt’s corn & macaroni casserole!

Lori April 1, 2014 at 2:04 pm

Can’t do without the cornbread and beans.

Kristen April 1, 2014 at 5:45 pm

My favorite is grilled corn on the cob with paprika and a little homemade mayo, so good!

Joanne Gregory April 2, 2014 at 4:35 am

Baked beans are always my favorite. And in the summer I always hope for devilled eggs, too.

Meg S April 2, 2014 at 10:09 am

The sides are my favorite part! I’ve been craving pot likker lately so I’m going to go with that :)

Allison Z. April 2, 2014 at 10:30 am

Katie April 2, 2014 at 12:29 pm

My favorite BBQ side is cornbread. Bread is always my favorite addition to any meal!

Jillian Lopina April 2, 2014 at 3:35 pm

mac n cheese, oh yeahhhhh :)

Natasha C April 2, 2014 at 3:36 pm

mac n cheese is a hands down favorite. sounds weird but koo koo roo makes my favorite version. sad that most of the locations have shut down now!

percentblog April 2, 2014 at 4:33 pm

From NC, so I gotta say coleslaw. In fact, it goes ON my BBQ sandwich. Other sides are great, especially hushpuppies and mac n cheese, but it’s coleslaw that makes a meal of BBQ complete.

Simone April 2, 2014 at 4:56 pm

Wait, I love all the sides just as much as everyone else. But my favorite BBQ staple is just a plain old slice of soft, white bread. This is how it’s done when you mean business, for real.

Kasey April 2, 2014 at 7:20 pm

Gotta be coleslaw! But it needs to be light on the sauce; it makes me feel like I’m eating something kinda healthy to balance out all the carbs and meat :)

Dayana P. April 2, 2014 at 7:39 pm

Mac n cheese, corn bread, greens, and baked beans–in that order.

Meagan April 2, 2014 at 8:16 pm

mmm baked beans, with BACON!

Francesca April 2, 2014 at 11:22 pm

Oh wow. I love, with all my heart, corn on the cob. And any meat on the grill. yum!

Kristina April 3, 2014 at 2:40 am

“Cowboy Caviar”: beans, corn, bell peppers, onions. Or a nice crunchy broccoli salad.

But you’ll never go wrong with an ice cold beer.

Chelsea B. April 3, 2014 at 12:57 pm

My favorite is my sisters baked beans. She has a recipe from Kentucky she refuses to share with bacon and the whole nine yards. Its amazing.

Kristen K. April 4, 2014 at 2:18 pm

Cole Slaw, the vinegary kind. It is amazing with BBQ sauce.

Colleen April 4, 2014 at 2:38 pm

Grilled flatbread is a great BBQ side dish!

Marie April 4, 2014 at 7:07 pm
